First Responder Fund
Purpose of the First Responder Fund
The purpose of the Helping Minnesota Heroes (HMH) First Responder Fund is to provide financial assistance to local first responder organizations – police departments, sheriff’s office, fire departments and emergency medical services – for community events, programming, awareness and outreach, immediate-impact equipment needs, and in the event of a line of duty (LOD) injury or death.
The contact person(s) for Agencies applying for a donation shall be the President of the Board or the Board Treasurer.
No requests for aid/assistance shall come directly from individuals unless in the event of a line of duty injury or death. The HMH First Responder Fund shall work with first responder organizations in Nicollet, Le Sueur, Blue Earth, Sibley and Brown Counties. The Board of Directors will make a donation to the family of any first responder killed in the Line of Duty in the State of Minnesota.
All requests for assistance shall be via the First Responder Fund Application, whether submitted on paper or by electronic means. The goal of the Board is to act upon the request within 1 week of receiving the completed request application. The requesting Agency will be notified of decision or if further information is requested within 24 hours after the Board has reviewed the request. All donations will be made to the requesting agency. No checks will be made out to the individual requesting assistance, unless in the event of a LOD injury or death. The Board may choose to make a donation at its own discretion without receipt of an application.
No single financial award will be greater than one thousand dollars ($1,000). Requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
